What apps do you use to help you design?
How did you get started in your role as a designer?
I've always been interested in design. I started in my early teens with digital design which later helped me pick highschool and even university. And now I have a bachelors degree in UX design.
What are the responsibilities of your role as a designer?
It depends. My responsibilities varies are very flexible depending on which project I work with. In my latest assignment I was responsible for two design systems for Toyota Material Handling. And in my upcoming I'm responsible for redesigning a website.
Although, I am most interested in the later part of the design process i.e. creating rather than research. I've had the opportunity and luck that most of my assignments have let me get deeper knowledge within that part of the process and I hope that continues.
Looking forward I hope my responsibilities continues on the same road but also gives me the opportunity to help other designers be more efficient and to create better and more thoughtful design.
How do you incorporate these apps in your design process?
I use Figma exclusively, regardless if it is to manage research or creating prototypes.
What advice would you give to your younger self trying to get into the field of design?
Continue creating.
Without sounding as a know it all - I think most juniors need to create and do more to distinguish themselves in the sea of designers applying for each job application. It's no secret that the job market is rough for juniors at the moment, but I honestly think that creating more and showing your interest and curiosity for the field is what makes you more attractive to the recruiter.
Do you have any regrets in your journey in becoming a designer?
Not doing a masters.
As a designer, how do you stay inspired?
Realizing that design is everywhere has helped me tremendously. Everywhere is a source of inspiration.
